Women's Monastery in Japca

The monastery is located at end of the very picturesque places in Japca, about 160 km to the north of Chisinau. It was the only working monastery during the soviet period.

In 1770 A.D. the monastery was founded on the present place , the construction started and the monastery as well as the library were accomplished. At the beginning of the 19th century the stone churches were constructed. The main church was rebuilt several times and nowadays. It has three altars (God Ascension, Transformation and sacred cross).
